尽管世界技术格局在的不断变化,但石英始终是制造清洁、持久的晶振优质材料,作用于最精确的计时产品上。几乎任何材料都能够产生和共振频率;石英的不同之处在于其独特的晶体结构使其能够以产生最稳定反应的方式形成。
然而制造这些石英晶体振荡器的过程非常具体且难以做到。
生长人造石英晶体
石英是一种天然存在的矿物,具有均匀的晶体结构,由两个氧原子和一个硅原子组成。多年的高压和暴露在高温下,创造了这种独特的矿物。这种矿物的学名是SiO4硅氧四面体。
不幸的是,大自然无法提供生长SiO4所需的恒定压力和温度水平,而不会产生缺陷和污染,使其不适合用于技术应用。这就是高压灭菌器的用武之地。高压釜是一种大型压力容器,可将原始的天然石英变成纯SiO4石英条。
高压釜将原石英置于10,000psi-40,000psi左右的压力下,温度为340~380ºC。许多石英片,称为种子,悬挂在线框上,高压釜通电并加压。这导致天然石英从底部蒸发,不留下任何杂质。在此之后,天然石英在这些恒定的压力和温度下重新配制到种子上。生长晶体的过程需要30到120天才能完成。
切割水晶
在高压釜工艺产生纯SiO4石英棒后,制造工艺的下一步是根据其预期用途的尺寸将棒切割成小块。这是使用高精度刀具完成的,这些刀具旨在非常精确地切割并使用精确的角度。在此步骤中,制造商必须记住使晶体坯料比要求略厚。
然后可以仔细蚀刻这些较厚的坯料并研磨到所需的厚度。对于更精确的晶体,坯料做得稍微薄一些,以便它以所需的更高频率共振。在此之后,将金或其他材料溅射到毛坯上的仔细过程发生,以便将其微调到所需的频率。

蚀刻
为了使这种晶体在振荡器中有效,表面经过化学蚀刻以消除研磨造成的损坏。蚀刻为晶体提供了更精细的光洁度,阻止了不需要的化学物质和碎屑进入并扰乱频率。除了精细的光洁度外,蚀刻是改变晶体尺寸的过程的最后阶段。蚀刻后,晶体应达到所需的尺寸以供使用。
蚀刻过程必须通过仔细清洁晶体表面来完成,确保去除蚀刻过程中使用的所有外部化学物质痕迹。
电极
在晶体达到所需的规格和光洁度后,通过将成品晶体坯料放入蒸发掩模中并将银或金蒸气沉积到晶体表面,形成电极,从而添加电极基座。最后,将引线连接到沉积的电极上,并将成品晶体安装到其支架中。
密封
一旦晶体安装在其支架中,它就会用氮气密封,以防止不需要的材料进入设计。这些不需要的颗粒会导致晶体内的老化和其他问题。
检查
